Broadcom DX NetOps and DX UIM: Monitoring Ledger 2026

Broadcom DX NetOps and DX UIM are the deepest high-end suite here, with topology root cause at huge scale, but deals are subscription-only, high minimums.

Edition October 4, 20266 min read

Part of the Infrastructure Monitoring Ledger (edition 2026-10-04). How the scores work: methodology.

    Snapshot

    • Tier: Legacy enterprise
    • Owner: Broadcom Inc., listed; owner since buying CA Technologies in 2018-11 for 18.9 billion dollars
    • Licence model: Subscription only: Portfolio License Agreements or per-device, per-interface and per-server subscriptions; no new perpetual licences
    • Products scored: DX NetOps 25.4 (Spectrum, Performance Management, NFA, VNA, AppNeta) and DX UIM 23.4; DX Operational Intelligence and Automic are separate products and count half
    • Latest release: DX NetOps 25.4.12 and DX UIM 23.4 CU9, both 2026-09-22
    • Next signal: DX NetOps 26.x with streaming telemetry ahead of SNMP; quarterly UIM 23.4 cumulative updates; no dates stated
    • Archetype: Carrier-grade suite for top accounts
    • Evidence grade: B. TechDocs release notes are cited mostly at hub level, prices come from channel benchmarks, and AI dates conflict between the research and AI evidence.

    Reading

Broadcom runs DX NetOps and DX UIM as a high-end suite for its largest accounts, adding streaming telemetry, a new topology engine and generative AI summaries. The capability record is the deepest in this group, from topology-based root cause to scale past 500,000 devices, and announced items shipped. The trade-offs are subscription-only deals with high minimums, proprietary storage and agents, two-year forced upgrades, and no Proxmox or XCP-ng monitoring from the owner of VMware.

    Open questions and evidence caveats

    • The AI evidence dates GenAI summarization and an acting assistant to 2024-03; the research record lists GenAI summaries as GA only in 2026-09 and acting runbooks as roadmap.
    • Much of the AIOps sits in DX Operational Intelligence, a separate product included in PLAs; capability scores give it half credit, AI scores count it.
    • Pricing and minimums come from channel benchmarks, not published lists.
    • Most TechDocs citations point to hub pages rather than specific release-note pages.
