CoreWeave Kubernetes Service: Cloud Kubernetes Ledger

CoreWeave is building toward a bare-metal AI cloud where Kubernetes, InfiniBand, storage and agent tooling come as one stack.

Edition October 13, 20266 min read

Part of the Managed Cloud Kubernetes Ledger (edition 2026-10-13). How the scores work: methodology.

    1. Snapshot

    • Tier: AI cloud
    • Owner: CoreWeave, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRWV, IPO prospectus 2025-03-31); public company with losses and debt
    • Licence model: Usage billing for instances and storage; control plane free; committed take-or-pay contracts were over 98% of 2025 revenue
    • Products scored: CKS bare-metal Kubernetes clusters, Node Pools, SUNK, AI Object Storage, VPC, Mission Control
    • Latest release: Kubernetes 1.37 on CKS, 2026-09-16 (changelog)
    • Next signal: Vera Rubin NVL72 in limited availability since 2026-09-30; no dated roadmap
    • Archetype: Sales-gated GPU cloud
    • Evidence grade: B. Features come from the dated changelog and docs read in this run; CKS history before 2025 and incident history are not published, and say-do has no stated dates.

Not ranked: Fails inclusion test 4: an organisation is activated only after CoreWeave Sales approves it (docs.coreweave.com activate-org and get-started pages); no self-service sign-up was found.

    10. Reading

CoreWeave is building toward a bare-metal AI cloud where Kubernetes, InfiniBand, storage and agent tooling come as one stack. The record shows fast Kubernetes tracking since 2025, a steady stream of GPU generations and IAM work, and no stated dates. A buyer gets top GPU access and free egress, and accepts sales-gated onboarding, committed contracts and a loss-making, debt-heavy supplier.

    11. Open questions and evidence caveats

    • Sign-up is sales-gated, so the entry is unranked; the rule comes from the inclusion tests, not from product quality.
    • CKS history before 2025 and the cluster autoscaler GA date are not published; scores start in 2025.
    • Incident rows rest on third-party mirrors and search snippets (grade B); CoreWeave publishes no post-incident reviews in the pages read.
    • The terms of service state an uptime objective for container instances, not for the CKS control plane.
    • Partner programme and certification were not researched in depth.
